Exfoliating is basically the simplest, best way (next to moisturizing) to keep skin looking fresh and youthful. As skin ages, cell turnover slows down so we don’t get shiny new skin cells as often and the old dull ones pile up, leaving us looking not-so-fresh.
But it’s safe to say that most of us either don’t exfoliate enough or we don’t get the kind of results we’re looking for without a visit to the spa. That’s why Olay’s newest release is kind of a big deal. An electric facial cleansing brush with two heads and two skincare formulas, Olay’s Pro-X Microdermabrasion Plus Advanced Cleansing System delivers results after the first use—at least I found my skin felt smoother and looked brighter right away.
The cleansing tool has three speeds: two for daily use and one for a twice-a-week deeper exfoliation. The two cleansing heads are a soft brush to be used with the Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser and the microdermabrasion foam head to be used with the Pro-X Thermal Crystal Polisher.
Unlike the spa treatment, Olay’s microdermabrasion doesn’t involve shooting tiny exfoliating particles at your skin while simultaneously sucking them up with a vacuum tool. And while the real deal isn’t as uncomfortable as it sounds (it can be down right relaxing), the at-home treatment is pretty soothing. The Thermal Crystal Polisher warms up upon contact with wet skin and the foam head delivers a lovely facial massage.
And of course Olay promises results. After one microdermabrasion use, see improvement in the appearance of fine lines, radiance, brightness and pores. After two uses, see improvement in skin’s texture and skin tone. After five days of using the system (both daily cleansing and deeper exfoliation), more than 90 per cent of women who tried the product saw smoother skin and an improvement in dullness.
