We Want Right Now: Sally Hansen x Rodarte Nail Polish

This season's tie-dyed brilliance at Rodarte will inspire your next DIY manicure

Rodarte Sally Hansen Fall 2013

Rodarte has teamed up with Sally Hansen to create an exclusive line of nail polishes that are as tough yet romantic as the Mulleavy sisters themselves. The collaboration features three shades inspired by the tie-dyed dresses (meant to recreate memories of their childhood in Santa Cruz) in their Fall 2013 collection. Models at New York Fashion Week gave us a sneak peak of the polishes—Stocking Nude (nude), Platinum Star (silver) and Gold Roses (rose gold)—while walking the runway with mixed-metal ombré French tips set against a nude base .

This isn’t the first time Laura and Kate Mulleavy have bottled up Rodarte’s runway shades. Deborah Lippmann’s Lippmann Collection re-created “Marquee Moon,” the one-off gunmetal silver polish—with sequins, no less—in 2009, after painting nails backstage for the Rodarte Fall show of the same year.

While this season’s bodysuits with cutouts for bare hipbones will be difficult to commercialize, the polishes won’t be a hard sell. The limited edition colours will be available come September. And at $7.99 each, it might be worth snagging all three.
