10 Steps To Perfect Skin
#1 Thou shalt… know thy skin
“Eighty percent of people I see are wrong about whether their skin is dry or oily,” says Miami, Fla.-based cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Leslie Baumann. “Most people feel dry after they wash so they misdiagnose themselves as dry.” You may have heeded some common skin clues to help determine your type: oilier types tend to look shiny and are more prone to breakouts and blackheads, while those on the drier side can feel rough or tight, even after applying moisturizer. But the only way to know for sure is to visit a dermatologist for a consultation. The message: don’t opt for that buzzed-about skin cream just because your girlfriends use it. What’s right for them may be wrong for you.
