It has been confirmed that legendary hairdresser Vidal Sassoon has been found dead in his home on Mulholland Drive at the age of 84.
Sassoon opened his first salon in London during the early 1950’s after starting as a shampoo boy at 14. Vidal became a household name in the 1960’s introducing the concept of the ‘wash-and-wear’ – a cut that required little styling time, a major departure from the shellacked up-dos of the previous decade.
It was reported last year that the stylist had been diagnosed with leukemia once again after an initial diagnosis in 2009. Sassoon did, however, make an appearance at a screening of the documentary Vidal Sassoon: The Movie in 2010.
