Smashbox finds a new home

Beauty giant Estée Lauder purchased the favourite LA-based brand Smashbox Cosmetics. As reported by WWD, Lauder acquired the photo-studio-born line as part of their interest to move more into alternative makeup lines (Lauder owns several other brands including M.A.C, Clinique and Bobbi Brown). Smashbox was founded in 1996 by the great-grandsons of makeup legend Max Factor, Dean and Davis Factor, who also founded the Smashbox Studios photo facility in Hollywood (FLARE was there to shoot our August cover but you’ll have to wait until July to find out who she is!)
