Hair: The Art of Jared Leto’s Man Bun

We’ll admit it, hair envy happens to the best of us. The year of Jared Leto and his hair, we think The Dallas Buyers Club star is winning big this awards season. For his man bun, effortless waves and too flawless to be natural hombré (his ombré = hombré), it’s hair so good it has its own fan club. After months of mane obsessing, we’ve decoded the secrets to his lustrous locks with the help of L’Oréal Professionnel Artist Matthew Collins. By: Carly Ostroff

Step 1: Pull hair back with a brush to above the nape of the neck

Step 2: Using a thick elastic, wrap around the twist, and wrap around again but only pull the hair through enough to make a small knot “bun.” Make sure to leave the ends out so it looks like a half bun half man pony

Step 3: Matthew recommends, “using L’Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil on the roots to ends to create a shiny two-day-old look.”

Let’s move onto the Oscar winner’s effortlessly cool waves that require a bit of effort (but not too much, we swear!).

Step 1: Spray L’Oréal Professionnel tecni.art Pli all throughout hair and wrap with an elastic into a top knot

Step 2: Make sure it’s on the top of your head. Don’t worry about getting it perfect. Matt says messy is good! FIX MOV

Step 3: Leave hair in the bun for an hour or apply heat with a blow drier for 5-10 minutes

Step 4: Take the elastic out, for a natural “man” wave that’s not too feminine

Bonus step: After washing, you can add tecni.art Fix Move and Mythic Oil through the lengths and ends of wet hair to give it texture and a less clean and “pretty” look
