Working in fashion and beauty media gives one ample opportunity to stop and pause at what we get to experience, often before the public. Touring and experiencing the new 10,000 square foot Beauty Hall at Holt Renfrew Yorkdale in Toronto was one such moment. The space is meant to draw the shopper in to discover the 33 brands—some of which are new to Yorkdale and Holt Renfrew—tucked away in kiosks and arrayed on displays throughout the store.
Services at the Holt’s Beauty Bar include a complimentary makeup bag review and makeup brush cleaning (how often do you clean yours?), or get a personalized skincare and makeup consultation before you browse. Visit the Primp & Polish bar for express blowouts, facial waxing, manicures and lash and brow services.
If you’ve had a hard day, sidle up to the La Mer skincare suite for a soothing facial featuring one of the world’s most luxurious skin creams. I spent a lovely 45 minutes with an aesthetician whose touch was so light I fell asleep (true story!). There are four private skincare suites featuring brands like Sisley Paris and La Prairie. After my facial (more on that below), I visited the Chanel counter for a makeup touch up and a new favourite: Les Beiges Powder in #30.
The Beauty Hall expansion is part of a larger growth project that will see the final store encompass 120,000 square feet in total at Yorkdale, doubling its size. It’s worth a trip if you’re in the Toronto area and are in need of a little private pampering.
