Best gift received. I loved and still do love receiving surprise floral arrangements—they’re unexpected and remind me of how the simplest things are often the most beautiful and that summer will return!
Must give. Time—time to be together and celebrate the returning of the light, whether that be drinks, dinner or just a walk.
Favourite holiday movie and song. Movie: White Christmas and A Christmas Carol Songs: “Ave Maria” and “O Holy Night”
Treasured holiday memory. Big Italian dinners growing up—lots of people, food and laughter, where the focus is on being together and not on the gifts.

Best gift received. I love gifts that give me more time with my friends. I love getting gift certificates for two (with them of course!) to a spa, dinner out, or the movies.
Must give. I give all my girlfriends with new babies a set of books by Sandra Boynton. They never fail to warm hearts. A cashmere scarf in a delicious colour is always popular for men or women. Who doesn’t love to wrap themselves up in that silky warmth.
Treasured holiday memory. I spent last Christmas with my family in Vancouver. The night before I left, my boyfriend created an early Christmas for me in my condo. There was a fire blazing in the fireplace, candles and dimmed lights, a gift certificate to our favourite restaurant for dinner that night and our pug Harley dressed up in a bright red ribbon. I hated to leave!

Favourite holiday song. “What Are You Doing New Year’s Day”, sung beautifully by both Ella Fitzgerald and Rufus Wainwright.
Must give. The must-give item this season is a charitable contribution. I prefer giving to libraries and archives that require financial assistance. If you are strapped for cash, I suggest donating books and magazines that you don’t use anymore to a library of your choice.
