THE LOOK
Thanks to Katie Holmes, short hair with bangs is back in style with a vengeance. There are so many names for this hairstyle—the most common being the bob.

Best hair for this cut
The best hair type for this cut is straight to wavy hair, not curly. The cut itself will look best on fine to normal hair texture or else it will throw off the shape.
Best face for this cut
Bob haircuts look best on heart and oval-shaped faces and will accentuate a long neck.
Maintenance
The best way to maintain this cut is to have it trimmed every 6-8 weeks to keep the edge and movement. It’s important to blow-dry the front and sides straight and not curl them so it does not age your face.

Long Bangs

THE LOOK
Thanks to a host of celebrities like Kate Hudson and Mischa Barton, long hair with bangs is hotter than ever. There are tons of ways to add bangs to different hairstyles and types—that’s why they’re perfect for the long-haired girl who doesn’t want a drastic change, but wants to update her look.

Best hair for this cut
Straight, thick hair requires the least amount of effort with this long layered look with bangs, but even people with curly hair can wear bangs. The trick is to blow-dry the bangs first while they’re still damp.
Best face for this cut
Bangs that are combed straight down right under the brow line are considered straight bangs and are great for softening more prominent facial features like sharper chins and larger forehead areas (showing cheek bones and opening the face). Side-swept bangs are great ways to even out round and heart shaped faces as well adding a bit of drama.
Maintenance
Bang trims are usually done every two to three weeks. When the bangs grow out or become heavy, you can side sweep, but what ever you do—do not use your own scissors!
