Last year brought us tiger eye balayage, phoenix hair, and rose gold blonde, which means 2017 has a lot to live up to. And so far, it doesn’t disappoint. The latest trend to flood our Instagram feeds is “blorange,” which sounds like Morange, a popular lipstick color way back. Blorange resembles a blood orange, which blends together red and orange hues, and also looks exactly like the beloved peach emoji ! #blorange #hair #trend #color #haircolor #orange #red #balayage #tonygalvezbeauty #haircolor #beauty #peach
Blorange, which is basically just a really chic way of saying “blood orange” or “blonde and orange,” is the new hair colour trend that is taking over our social feeds.
The pastel-like hue is a light orange, almost peach, shade and it isn’t too different from one of the biggest hair colour crazes in 2016, rose gold.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the colour pop-up on our feeds, though. Celebs like Georgia May Jagger (who actually used the term “blorange” to describe her hair in an Instagram post in 2016), Bella Thorne and Kylie Jenner have died their locks into some iteration of the colour in the past.

We spoke with Kristjan Hayden, lead hairstylist at Civello Salon and Creative Director for Aveda about how to recreate this trend if you’re looking to jump on the bandwagon. “Blorange can be achieved by first pre-lightening the hair and then applying a light orange wash all over,” Hayden says. “As long as the hair is blonde enough, you should be able to achieve a nice soft reddish-orange hue with the toner.”
If you’re wondering how long a colour like this lasts, Hayden says it really depends on your hair type. “It will always soften over time,” he explains, “but can be preserved by avoiding excessive heat styling, over shampooing and sun exposure.” If you want the colour to remain bright and bold for as long as possible, he recommends using hair care products designed for colour preservation such as Aveda’s Colour Conserve shampoo and conditioner.
While this colour might be here for a good time and not a long time, we’re ready to bring on the blorange!
