Star of the Twilight Saga, Ashley Greene, posed for our cover in a look very different from the one she is known for. As vampire Alice Cullen, she sports a pixie cut, pale skin and dark eye makeup. Yet for FLARE‘s December cover shoot, hairstylist Ted Gibson and makeup artist Vanessa Scali chose to go in a new direction. Gibson gave her a sexy side part and long, loose waves, while Scali created a defined red lip to amp up the screen siren sensuality of the expertly crafted Marchesa dress.
To achieve a look similar to Greene’s, give your hair a deep side part and blow dry with a large round brush. Use a curling iron in two sizes (medium and large barrel) to achieve natural, textured waves. Be sure to set the style with a hairspray with good hold.
The focus of Greene’s beauty look is her lips. To create a clean and defined red lip, the key is to blend. Start with a liner that exactly matches your lipstick. Line your lips, allowing the colour to fade away as it reaches the inner corners. Be sure to blend the colour into your lips to prevent a hard ’80s feel. Dab on your lipstick. To finish off, brush a warm blush over cheekbones and finish off with several coats of black mascara.
