From Shanghai, With Love

In the Mood for Love  inspires Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel makeup artist Peter Philips

Chanel makeup artist Peter Philips recently dished on his handy work for the drama-filled pre-fall Metiers d’Art Chanel show in Shanghai. Philips was particularly inspired by Karl’s reference to one of our favourite flicks, In the Mood for Love by Wong Kar-Wei. Philips created an exclusive mini collection called Orient Extreme just for the exotic occasion, which included an eye palette featuring gold shadow and black eyeliner, as well as three combinable nail lacquers also in shades of black and gold. To achieve the ultra-glam cat-eye look, Philips swept gold eyeshadow all over the eyelid and into the eyebrow arch. To add dramatic contrast, Philips lined the eyes with a graphic stroke of jet black liner and filled in the eyebrows with a brow pencil.
