Event: 2007 Flare Communications Award & Shiseido Design Recognition Award ceremony.
Details: In early April at The Bay’s Atrium on Queen Street, a cocktail reception was held to celebrate the work of Ryerson’s graduating fashion students and to announce the winners of two prestigious awards – the Flare Communications award and the Shiseido Design award.
Awards: The 12th annual Flare Communications Award honours the work of fourth-year fashion marketing students and bestows one winner or group with this monetary prize that includes the much-coveted double-page spread in Flare. The mandate for each student (individually or as a group) is to create fashion editorial that maintains the Flare aesthetic and philosophy. The student(s) are responsible for the entire layout from model selection to styling, including art direction and photography.
This is the 5th year for the Shiseido Design Recognition Award which recognizes the work of third and fourth year Fashion and Communication students. Working individually, they must each create an artistic but marketing-driven poster, reflecting Shiseido’s philosophy and brand.
Winners: The recipient of the 2007 Flare Communications Award was Michelle Harris for her work titled Artful Folds.
The recipient of the Shiseido Design Recognition Award was Sarah Lian for Lifetime of Skin Caring.
Kudos: A special thank you to the event’s host and sponsor The Bay for providing the food, music and the beautifully decorated space. And thank you to Shiseido for their continued commitment to Ryerson and to this award.
Fast Forward: The winner of the Flare Communications Award will have their work appear in the September 2007 issue of Flare.
The winning Shiseido poster will appear in retail stores with gift-with-purchase promotions during the fall 2007 season.
