In South Korea, sheet masks are a way of lady life, so it makes sense that Holika Holika, a Seoul-based skincare brand, makes a really good one. The first thing to know: the Prime Youth Placenta Sheet Mask contains extract of vegetable placenta (who knew?), not human placenta. Supposedly, the nutrient-rich substance helps coax the skin into producing elastin and collagen. The mask is also infused with soy extract, almond oil and jojoba, which make it highly moisturizing. It’s a gel mask, so you can peel away the stiff white fabric and it sticks to the face well, so you can sit up and watch an episode of Master of None, as I did, without fussing with your face the whole time. It’s cool and soothing, not tingly as many sheet masks can be, and it smells slightly powdery (in a good way). I left it on for a 35-minute episode, and my skin was definitely dewier and softer for a few hours following. I’d happily drop $10 on one for a pre-date skin boost or post-production-week Netflix and Prosecco sesh.
