Question: I’m looking to freshen up my summer work wardrobe. What trends would be appropriate for a corporate environment?
Answer: Summer’s hot trends included romance, futurism, and menswear. There were lots of office-worthy trends on the runway too. Dresses, graphic prints, and vibrant color all fit chicly into a workweek wardrobe. Your office sounds fairly conservative so here a a few tips. Play with prints, which are stylish on their own (such as on a great wrap dress) and even better as separates. Choose a eye-catching top that works under a jacket for day and works on it’s own for cocktails. Color is an instant wardrobe updater too. Adding an eye-popping orange or cobalt blue is a quick way to jazz up neutrals. Go for a voluminous sleeve shirt – it teams nicely with trousers or skirts. You should definitely pick up a dress – summer’s hot shape is the shirtdress – but for a bigger statement go for a trapeze style (falls loosely from the shoulder) with an empire waist. Choose a neutral color such as blush or brown and team it with a little cropped jacket for more polish. Be sure to wear a high platform heel – flats are a no-no with a full dress silhouette in your field.
