To say that Milly designer Michelle Smith is busy would be an understatement. Aside from prepping her Fall 2011 collection for the New York runway this afternoon, she’ll also be celebrating her brand’s 10th anniversary by delving into accessories and children’s fashion. And it doesn’t stop there: The designer recently partnered with Clinique to bring her artful mastery of bright colours to the makeup world with a limited-edition collection that hit stores this month.
The collaboration includes an eye-and-cheek palette and soft pink gloss. True to Milly’s reputation for bold patterns, the compact comes tucked inside a pouch with a bright vintage print, colour coordinated to match the brown and pink shadows. With the peachy-pink hues, shimmery finish and the gloss’s SPF 15, the collection is a perfect fit for spring.
Check out the video for a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the campaign shoot, where makeup artist Kayleen McAdams (also a former FLARE intern and Rachel McAdams’ sister) created the gorgeous spring look. “My absolute favourite item is the blush, Precious Posy,” she says. “I loved playing with this shade because it really works for everyone. Regardless of how light or dark your skin tone is, it will flatter your complexion and give that extra pop of colour.”
Milly for Clinique Limited Edition Pretty In Prints Compact, $43, and Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 in Milly Pink, $18. Now available at Clinique counters.
