The story: Canadian founder Lisa Mattam is facsinated by how her parents were so easily able to incorporate natural ingredients into their life back in Kerala, South India. “My parents would take a coconut from their plantations and mill it fresh for oil, and my father…loved to whip up treatments for any skin complaint with what was on hand in the kitchen.” After some research, she found there was in fact some serious science behind those home remedies. It’s these thousand-years-old traditions that have inspired her new skincare range. Lisa was the only Canadian out of eight female beauty entrepreneurs to be invited to Sephora’s first weeklong business bootcamp, Accelerate Cohort, created to help start-ups shape the future of beauty.
