Fred Connors, Hair and Makeup Artist
Halifax-based hair and makeup artist Fred Connors, working as a stylist on the Slice TV show X-Weighted, lugged his massive makeup kit across the country to prettify makeover candidates. In doing so, he was struck by an idea: "I kept using the same products on everybody," he says. "So most people are probably carrying around too much makeup." His solution: With four products (a face base or powder, lipstick, eye definer and blush) and three minutes, every woman can look great. Connors debuted Fred Face Cosmetics in his East Coast salon, Fred Beauty, but just made the line widely available with the launch of fredbeauty.com. The lineup of 20 lip shades, 15 eyeshadow shades and a range of face products--"Looking great starts with beautiful skin," he says--are infused with skin-friendly antioxidant vitamins A, C and E. Packaged in shiny silver compacts, they pull double duty: "The compact acts like a mirror without having to actually open it."
