A weekly look at what’s new on the beauty director’s desk

Carlene-small Unlike H&M designer collections, fragrance releases don’t generally incite line-ups and sell outs. But Moschino’s new Toy by the rascally Jeremy Scott probably will. Its adorbs “bottle”—a cuddly, fuzzy, brown teddy wearing a cheeky Moschino T-shirt—is bound to provoke the kind of frenzy the designer’s last fashion collection did the world over. (My friend ordered the $85 Barbie vanity mirror iPhone case from Europe and had it shipped to family in the U.K. to bring to her on their next visit, and, yes, it does have a long handle that won’t fit into her purse.) When it landed on my desk this afternoon, I eagerly tore into the Toys R Us–style box.Despite the kiddish exterior, the scent inside, a somewhat unisex combination of mandarin, bergamot, lavender and violet with a woody dry-down, is as refined as its $105 price tag suggests. Available at select Hudson’s Bay and Holt Renfrew locations early December.
