The #GlitterBooty Trend You’ll Be Seeing at Every Festival

Are you cheeky enough to try it?

U.K.-based artist and photographer Mia Kennington and her shine-loving crew The Gypsy Shrine recently started the #glitterbooty trend by flooding their social feeds with pics of sparkly derrieres inspired by a desert photoshoot. “We were in bikinis and were getting sand all over our butts anyway, so we were like, ‘Well, what if we enhance this?’ So we just did loads and loads of glitter,” Kennington told Cosmopolitan.

While the trend seems on the ridiculous side, it’s safe to say you’ll be seeing it grace many a bottom come festival season as booty shorts and festivals go hand-in-hand. Throw in some sparkle and you’ve got a recipe for every Insta-girl that hits the festival circuit.

Are you cheeky enough to try it? If the answer is yes, Kennington walked Cosmo through the steps to achieving the ultimate #discobooty. First, apply a coat of hair gel to the area you want to sparkle, and then use a paintbrush to press the glitter onto the gel while it’s still tacky. Lastly, she advises spritzing on a makeup-setting spray or hairspray to make your glitter go the distance.

Glitter bum, gold sparkle bum

And if taking it all off at the end of your night seems like a scratchy nightmare, Kennington swears it comes off easy-peasy with a couple of makeup wipes or an oil-based makeup remover.

FYI if having a glitter bottom doesn’t satiate your appetite for shine, The Gypsy Shrine has even more tutorials for ways to get sparkly, like how to get a glitter part or glitter boobs (yup).

So what are you waiting for (besides warmer weather)? Channel your inner Tinker Bell and bottoms up!
