While we didn’t see too many beauty risk-takers on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards last night, we did spot a low-key, yet high-impact look ideal for the warm weather–popsicle-bright lips.
Leighton Meester wore a tangerine shade paired with a swipe of black liner on her upper lids and some subtle bronze shadow.
Emma Stone chose to pair a bright lip with an otherwise pared-down visage, sporting rose-pink lips with a barely-there cat eye and a slightly messy updo. The vibrant shade went a long way as far as adding a much-needed pop of colour to her minimalist Martin Grant ensemble. We saw similar fuchsia lips on Janelle Monáe at the event.
Beauty Tip: The key to pulling off a super-saturated lip hue this summer? Choosing a lightweight formula that’s hydrating and ultra-moisturizing without being too glossy is key. The latest longwear lip products manage to give just enough creamy colour with the slightest bit of sheen for a low-maintenance look with plenty of impact. Let your pout take centre stage by eschewing elaborate eye make-up, and tossing your hair up in a messy bun to keep the focus on your face.
