Surprised? Three tips inspired by the party girl

Yep, we said it. While we definitely don’t want to see a mass of Snooki clones any day soon, perhaps there are a few good (ahem, toned down) take-aways from the party girl’s signature style – just in time for Jersey Shore’s season two premiere on MTV Canada tonight.

1) Steal the spotlight by giving hair some lift.
DO: Perk up your ‘do with a bit (key words) of backcombing at your roots. Just lift one- to three-inch sections of hair at your crown, prep with hairspray, insert a comb mid-way through strands and glide down to your roots. Once you’ve added body on top, smooth it over with a brush to get rid of fuzzies and lock it in with another spritz of hairspray.
DON’T: Overdo it. You don’t want to look like you’re rocking stiff ‘80s prom hair. Also, be gentle when teasing and use nourishing shampoo and conditioner to keep your tresses healthy. FLARE pick: Dove Damage Therapy Revival Shampoo and Conditioner, $6 each. At drugstores and mass retailers.

2) Nothing says summer fun like a warm glow.
DO: Celebrate the hot weather by sporting a bronzed bod.
DON’T: Fry your skin. Remember that UV rays can damage skin and leave you looking aged beyond your years. Instead, invest in a good self-tanner. FLARE pick: Nuxe Soleil Prodigieux Beautifying Self-Tanning Body Lotion, $34. At the Bay and select pharmacies across Canada.

3) Eyeliner is a girl’s best friend.
DO: Add drama to your nighttime look by rimming your lids with a dark pencil. Choose a waterproof liner and stick close to your lash line for instant sexy eyes. FLARE pick: It Cosmetics H2O Eyes Waterproof Eye Pencil, $24. At The Shopping Channel.
DON’T: Go overboard with caked-on makeup. Although we salute Snooki for being so fearless with her look, it’s best to leave the over-the-top face paint to her and the shore crew.
