Parisian powerhouse (and known rebel) Azzedine Alaïa has just inked a deal with Beauté Prestige International to debut the label’s first fragrance and cosmetics collection. “I am delighted to work with them in launching this new project,” shared the designer, “I have total confidence in Beauté Prestige International to accompany me in creating a perfume that interprets my work and my world.”
A challenge to be hearkened for BPI, translating Alaïa’s world, which has illuminated 30 years of meticulous craftsmanship, and instantly recognizable sleek design. But the legendary beauty house has a portfolio of experience crafting thriving fragrances from the DNA of unorthodox fashion brands (re: Issey Miyake, Jean Paul Gautier, Narciso Rodriguez, Elie Saab).
“[Alaïa] is a sculptor, a virtuoso of the cut,” said Rémy Gomez, Beauté Prestige’s chief executive officer. “His dresses are a ‘second skin’ which possess an almost supernatural power to sublime the wearer.” And the Alaïa scent surely will be no exception.
