Thierry Mugler Angel
The woman who wears Mugler’s intergalactic designs is best described as strong (it takes Beyoncé-level confidence to pull off a motorcycle-shaped bustier) and the same goes for the brand’s debut eau de parfum, Angel, launched in 1992. “We had a lot of resistance from people who were against it,” says perfumer Olivier Cresp. “They said it was too powerful. But the people who are addicted to it are addicted for good.” The dessert-like combo of caramel and vanilla sparked a consumer appetite for gourmand notes—among the most popular today—that still hasn’t been sated.
