There’s no better incentive for upping your water intake than Jennifer Aniston’s face (and envy-inducing body) on Smart Water ads all around town claiming the drink to be her “secret revealed”.
H2O has long been proven to aid in increasing energy and improving your skin’s natural glow, two things that take a toll in the summer heat, so with a hot, sticky long weekend ahead, it’s more important than ever to keep a replenishing source of water on-hand – a minimum of 2 litres per day, to be exact.
This amount can sound daunting, but as beauty expert Cheryl Gushue reveals, it’s easier than you may think. Here are her top 3 tips for incorporating more water into your every day:
#1 Wake up and chug. After 7hrs of rest (if you’re lucky) your body is thirsty. A tall glass of water should be your first order of the day to replenish your system and it’ll get most of the heavy drinking out of the way.
#2 Be creative with your H2O. Instead of a morning tea, try hot water with lemon. It’s a great source of H20 as opposed to tea, which is a dehydrating diuretic and, as an added bonus, a natural liver cleanse. You can also add fresh citrus fruits and berries to cold water for a refreshing taste and even more nutritional benefit.
#3 Water doesn’t just come from a tap. Look for water-rich fruits and veggies to increase your agua intake even more. Watermelon, cucumber, and celery are great sources.
