HOW TO GO LONG—FASTER
If you’re craving long, luscious locks but can’t
seem to grow your hair past the dreaded “plateau,” skimp on haircuts and
stock up on products, advises Harry Josh, international creative
consultant for John Frieda, whose boldface clients include Cameron
Diaz and Gisele Bündchen. “No matter how dry,
how fried, how split, you should not cut the length.” Instead, every
three months, ask your stylist for a “dusting” (taking off only
microscopic bits) and to trim just the interior layers. To cope with the
growing pains—namely, splintered straw-like ends—invest in a
heat-shielding spray to protect, weekly hydrating masques to repair any
strands that are splitting and a shine serum to disguise any damage that
can’t be cured. “It won’t correct it, but at least you can make hair
look healthy,” he says. With a few drops of serum in your palms, press
