Wardrobe Tips From Fashion Stylists
1. Take your cues from people whose style you admire… It’s important to have people who have a style that you respond to. Whether it’s the chic and elegant style of Jackie O, the sexiness and glamour of Marilyn Monroe or the youthful, high fashion grace of Emma Stone, try to incorporate the vibe of what they’re doing into your own wardrobe.
2. Be experimental… You don’t have to be locked in to one look. My look is primarily preppy geek–chic but sometimes I like to sex it up or give myself some edge. Allow yourself to play with different styles.
3. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes… Try not to worry about what others will think. I have had many fashion mishaps [and] sometimes an amazing idea doesn’t translate, but there is no harm in trying. Wearing a bad outfit is just as important as wearing a good one; you have to learn what doesn’t work for you in order to learn what does.
