Did you know that every year in Canada 100 000 women and their children stay in shelters for abused women?
For the past seven years, Rogers Media, FLARE‘s parent company, has been working with the Canadian Women’s Foundation’s Shelter from the Storm initiative, which raises funds to support shelters and community programs across Canada. This year, the campaign will run from April 11 to May 8 and includes the program’s first-ever national BootCamp, a one-hour fitness program from GoodLife, which takes place on April 30 in Toronto, Calgary, Ottawa and Winnipeg. If there’s no boot camp in your city, you can register your own team. Rogers Publishing will be participating with a team led by one of our sister publications, Chatelaine.
During the campaign, you can donate online at shelterfromthestorm.ca, and in Winners and HomeSense stores across Canada. Rogers Women’s Network Team will also be challenging teams from all across the country, so be sure to sign up online for exclusive health and fitness tips to prep for the event.
Winners or HomeSense will have a limited edition Shelter from the Storm line that includes T-shirts, rain boots, umbrellas and reusable totes. With affordable options–nothing is over $30–it’s easy for everyone to support this very worthy cause.
