Toronto Fashion Week: Travis Taddeo Fall 2013
Black-on-black-on-black was the theme of Travis Taddeo’s fall collection. Inspired by Calvin Klein’s '90s Obsession campaign featuring Kate Moss, the show was clean and minimalistic with a dark, raw edge. The long silhouettes — a '90s signature — in muted shades of black with accenting fur captured an effortless yet lavishly-layered look. Think upscale grunge — yes, it’s possible.
“It’s about trying to take something that’s a little bit classic and modernizing it,” Taddeo says. “You can’t just go out there and call yourself grunge or goth. You’ve got to do something to make it modern.” By using original cuts with the odd cut-off, he modernized this otherwise '90s collection to create subdued luxury.
