What team are you on? Margiela, Philo and soon-to-be Silmane have been chosen as the first of only a few designers to be honoured with team-style screen-printed T-shirts. The unofficial line designed by New York label Les Plus Dorés has gone viral around world demanding hardcore fans to select their fashion leader–just in time for the shows. Spot the basic black tops with numbers that note each designers birth year on all the leading street style blogs in the days to come.

We caught up with the label’s creative director Benjamin Fainlight on what the buzz is all about:

On where the idea came from
: “I wear a t-shirt and jeans most everyday, and as someone who loves fashion I wanted there to be a way to show you’re a fan of a designer the same way people show that they’re fans of an athlete, without needing to spend a ton of money. I think the shirts also imply a general savviness, since not everyone knows Philo means Phoebe Philo…it makes a sort of team mentality.”

On the growing fan base: “We have a pretty strong, growing blogger following – including Caroline Blomst, her partner Daniel Troyse, Jayne of Stop It Right Now, Lulu of Lulu and Your Mom, Jay of Jay Strut, Pelayo of Kate Loves Me and Carolina of Fashion Squad. We’ve also popped up on Nick Wooster’s blog and a few other magazine [sites].”

On completing the team kit
: “I always used to dream of being a designer, so I’m starting to explore that further. First is going to be some cut and sewn stuff for the winter – maybe even some cashmere. I want to expand a little from the jersey. I’d love to make a varsity jacket – from day one I’ve been dreaming of collaborating with Nike on one of their Destroyer jackets. Maybe some day!”

With the Martin Margiela and Phoebe Philo tops sold out (and not coming back!), now is your one and only chance to scoop up Fainlight’s ode to Silmane. 100 screen printed tops will land online today at noon.
