The work of travel-happy designer Justine Brooks is inspired by the beauty of Canada’s west coast. Originally from Toronto, she moved to Vancouver in 2003 and studied at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. Deciding to switch from ceramics to metal, she enrolled in jewelry design at Vancouver Community College and launched her eponymous collection of necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings.
Brooks casts from shells, leaves, and other organic materials to create pieces that directly reflect her surroundings in the Pacific Northwest. With two separate jewelry lines—one silver-oriented and the other incorporating beadwork—Brooks' designs range from understated to daring, but always maintain her earthy aesthetic. —Sara Constantineau
