Citing inspiration from her Italian grandmother who owned a haute couture boutique in the 1940s, Montreal based Nadya Toto launched her ready-to-wear collection in 1989, creating ultra-feminine silhouettes that have remained distinctively herself over the past two decades. One constant is the designer’s love of texture, evident by her popular boiled wool coats, buttery knits, and signature lace embroidery. Other trademarks include ruffle-adorned gowns and versatile jersey dresses. But evolution of the brand is present too – a Montreal boutique opened to great acclaim in 1997 and Toto has added both an eyewear and an exclusive fur collection to her name. And with celebs like Angelina Jolie and Drew Barrymore stopping by the boutique to shop, you know Toto’s granny would be proud.
