Behind the fictional muse Mia Melon is Vancouver-based designer Polly Green, whose whimsical, feminine clothing label seems perfectly appropriate to be represented by an elusive “everygirl.” Pieces are quirky and fun, yet versatile in their ability to be mix and matched according to the wearer’s personality. Think pretty, flowy tops, brightly printed hoodies, and sweet surf-inspired short shorts as label staples. Green teamed with style veteran Steven Liesch to launch Mia Melon for Spring 2007 after returning from working in the UK for renowned design duo Gharani Strok. Having finished as a top three finalist in the 2008 Generation Next BC Fashion Week competition it seems like Mia Melon may indeed be fashion’s next “It” Girl.
