You could say that Lara Presber knows a thing or two about design. Having spent a decade working as an architect in Boston the Calgary-based designer decided to ditch facades for fabric, accepting a scholarship to study fashion at the Domus Academy in Milan. After earning her MA in Fashion Design Presber interned with Rose Aiuto for Bruno Magli in Italy before returning to her hometown to launch her line for the Fall 2007 season. Inspired by the fashions of the 1920s and 30s, Presber’s collections have a retro-vintage feel with a modern twist that target women in their 30s who want chic, fun clothes while avoiding looking like a teenager. Favourite looks include lined herringbone wool trousers, bamboo and cotton jersey boatneck tops, and angora knit cowl neck dresses matched with chic outerwear like the knee length boucle wool jacket.
