Described as elegant with an edge, this LA-based shoe designer had trendsetting stores like Barneys, Harvey Nichols, and Holt Renfrew snapping up his debut solo collection, launched only in July 2008. Inspired by glam retro footwear, Rousseau studied shoe design at London’s Cordwainers College, whose alumni include Jimmy Choo, before embarking on freelance design work in London Los Angeles. Now the Quebec native is offering up his own highly edited line, drawing attention with his meticulous eye for details and play on geometric shapes. Already “The Dragon” has become his signature style, a steep heeled pump that mixes four colors and will work with everything from jeans to gowns, and Charlize Theron has been spotted in his sexy “Andromeda” peep-toe shoe boot. Other stand-outs include the “Pandora”, an ultra-feminine high-heeled pump available in lipstick pink or gold and adorned with a big black silk rosette on the toe, and the “Aurora”, a 60s-inspired sling-back sandal in green silk trimmed with gold leather. Don’t say we didn’t warn you - look at your own risk.
