While many people give lip service to their eco-conscious, few can
match designer Pauline Siu’s devotion to all things green. The Flora
& Fauna designer has built her new line of eco-friendly clothing on
the beauty of nature and wildlife – from the prints on her signature
tube tops to the material used (sustainable threads like bamboo,
organic cotton, and soy, naturally). The Ryerson fashion design grad
skipped out of Toronto’s fashion rat race after several years,
relocating to Vancouver in 2007 in hopes of combining inspiration from
the west coast’s natural habitats with her fashion training. And she
did. A camping trip to Tofino inspired much of her spring collection,
like the teal-blue jellyfish tube top and the heather gray squirrel
tunic-style ‘tent top.’ Fans of the brand can now stop feeling guilty
because they don’t compost and take comfort in the fact that their
squirrel beach dress shows they care.
