The dramatic glamour inherent in lavish jewelry of years gone by is
given a second life in this vintage-inspired costume jewelry collection
by designer Trudelle Laker. Launched in early 2009, the pieces are all
handmade from vintage stones and settings using molds dating back to
the 1940s. The successful Toronto-based designer, who began her career
over twenty years ago and has designed private label jewelry for
companies like Club Monaco, Nordstrom, and Holt Renfrew, incorporates
many authentic materials into her pieces - meaning that there’s a good
chance the rhinestone dogwood blossom necklace you’ve been eyeing is
one-of-a-kind. The eclectic collection is divided by themes, like
“DECOrum”, which includes edgy art deco-influenced pieces (think
oversized domed cocktail rings and chunky, enameled pendants) and
“Celebration”, which features elaborate, crystal-encrusted earrings,
necklaces, and bracelets. Consider this the end of the fight with your
sister over who will inherit grandma’s vintage brooches.
