This sibling design duo from Toronto creates contemporary ready-to-wear
and active sportswear for the downtown crowd, making fashion not only
comfortable, but practical too. Alia and Jamil Juma launched the label
in 2003, using high fashion cuts with easy-to-wear fabrics like French
terry fleece, merino wool knit, and organic cotton jersey. Picked up by
fashion heavyweights like Fred Segal LA, Atrium New York, and By George
Austin, Juma has become known for their signature yoga-inspired, drop
crotch “Kurta Pant”, knit sweaters, and dresses, like the Empire Waist
Bubble Dress”, that morph from casual cool to dinner attire with
minimal effort. For fall look for pieces described as “transitional,
sporty, and eclectic”, dominated by stretchy leggings, pencil-style
dresses, and oversized cardigans in shades of gray, navy, and black and
accented with forest green and yellow.
