Chunky cosmopolitan costume jewelry that can quickly become
a personal statement piece is this Vancouver-based design company’s claim to
fame. Founded by Maja and Michael Bremer back in 1987 in Toronto, the couple
met as students at Ryerson University and soon after combined their creative
efforts to make handmade jewelry. In
1996 they relocated to Vancouver, thriving off the beauty of the west coast and
expanding their efforts oversees while taking cues from contemporary European
craftsmanship. Look for bold pendants embellished with Swarovski crystals,
antique brass bracelets punctuated with semi-precious stones, or earrings
adorned with dangling multicolored glass and crystal beads. For fall expect
some serious hardware, as Myka picks up on the trendy “heavy metal” look seen
on the runways.
