Launched in 1994 by Ryerson grads Jennifer Halchuk and Richard Lyle,
this Toronto-based brand has found fans amongst the edgy, urban,
fashion-savvy girls in places like New York City and Japan. The design
duo source material from all over the world – think an organic blend of
wool, linen, and cotton from Japan or a washable waxed cotton from
England – and use it to craft their easy-to-wear separates. Known for
their signature surface techniques like hand painting, silk screening,
and freehand embroidery, pieces have a delicate, vintage quality to
them, with recent designs echoing a “lady-like” aesthetic, with cinched
waists, pretty patterns, and sheer blouses common collection features.
