This eclectic line from Calgary boasts earrings, bracelets,
and necklaces that reveal designer Morgan Mallett’s quirky inspirations
that range from futuristic geometry of the 1960s to cell biology.
Mallett’s background includes both graphic design and painting
training, but it’s her jewelry line, newly launched in 2008, that has
recently turned heads. Her signature oversized pieces, like the
Scorpion earrings, simple, abstract danglers made of polymer clay and
sterling silver, were recently featured on the Joseph Domingo runway at
Vancouver Fashion Week. Other favorites, like the Vader cuff, made of
acrylic polymer and distinctively warrior-like, is something 1980s
cartoon hero, She-ra Princess of Power would have surely rocked with
pride.
