Roughly translated into “True Happiness” in Chinese, this Toronto-based company has come to symbolize the playful side of the handbag world, with its rainbow toned totes found in a multitude of styles, with many under the $100 mark. Designer Jane Ip launched the brand with her sister Charlotte in 1985 after earning an MBA from York University. Despite never formally studying design, Ip used her business savvy to grow Jeanne Lottie into a booming business, opening up a boutique in Toronto’s Yorkville shopping district in 1998, which also features shoes and accessories. The constantly evolving brand ranges from everyday satchels, like the “Cross Body Urban Day Bag” to seasonal gems, like the “Summer Lattice Tote” embellished with a feminine cut-out rose pattern, to dressy evening clutches with details like Lucite kiss locks and satin-lined interiors.
