Kon’s handbags by are appealing in their timeless simplicity
– buttery leather, durable handles, and signature details like rushing,
zippered pockets, and studs. The Montreal-based designer launched his line in
2000 at the ripe age of 23, gainig business savvy and insider knowledge by
watching his parents run a family handbag business. While his palette of hot
hues like sky blue, fuchsia, and bright purple, along with basic ivories and
blacks are enticing, it’s his determination to solve the age-old problem of the
heavy back-breaking bag that gets him our vote. Refusing to sacrifice his love
(and ours!) of large, roomy totes, Kon uses ultra-light leather as his medium,
and has recently introduced the Jumper collection, made from nylon with leather
trimming, perfect for ladies who really load up. For fall, look for Super luxe
snakeskin styles, which promise to make a serious statement.
