Arielle de Pinto
This Toronto native has gained attention from her crocheted accessories due to her unconventional approach to your grandma’s favourite hobby. Using
sterling silver and vermeil metal chains instead of yarn, the young
designer “knits” necklaces, bracelets, tanks and gothic masks that
look as delicate as spun gold, but with a darker, edgy feel. No need to
dress up to rock these creations, just pair one of the long necklaces
with a plain tee and jeans for instant compliments. Currently based in
Brooklyn, de Pinto quickly established a global profile after her
official launch in 2008, showing her collections in Milan, New York
and Paris and collaborating with German accessories label Anntian for
a Fall 2009 collection. While de Pinto has no formal jewelry training,
she studied fine arts at Concordia University in Montreal before making handicrafts fashionable again.
