Few could impress Miranda Priestley, the notorious editor-in-chief in the 2006 fashion flick The Devil Wears Prada, but Izzy Camilleri succeeded. A red-dyed silver fox fur coat created by the Toronto-based designer was worn by Priestley (played by Meryl Streep), and was the only Canadian creation to make the cut. Camilleri began her career in fashion in 1984, eventually turning her attention to the film and television industry where she designed for heavyweights like Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez, and Reese Witherspoon. In 2000 she relaunched her own bespoke collection, using couture techniques with fabrics like leather, fur, and suede to create high fashion pieces worthy of red carpet attention and, apparently, fashion editor approval.
