While we were looking forward to a McAdams-Weisz-Affleck love triangle, it appears our dreams have been dashed. Rachel Weisz has been cut from the Terrence Malick film To The Wonder, which co-stars Rachel McAdams and Ben Affleck.
Little is known about the film, which debuts at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, but we do know this: Affleck’s character will reunite with his former flame, played by McAdams, after his marriage to a European woman falls apart. We had assumed Weisz would play the European wife, but apparently her role was much smaller. “I had the experience of working with [Malick],” Weisz said to an Italian newspaper. “But I will not have the pleasure of seeing my work.”
Weisz isn’t alone. Michael Sheen, Amanda Peet and Jessica Chastain have all reportedly been cut from the film as well (but, but, we love Chastain!). Something tells us that Affleck and McAdams will be more than enough to hold our attention, though. – Christian Allaire
