We know you’ve been waiting with baited breath to hear how much dough was laid out for the see through barely-a-dress Kate Middleton wore in the student fashion show where she first caught the eye of Prince William.
The dress went under the hammer today in London and sold for–are you ready?–£65,000. With the 20 per cent buyer’s commission, that rings in at just over $124,000! That’s enough to buy a house–in some places, anyway–which is exactly what the dress’s creator, Charlotte Todd, plans on doing with the money.
All this for some sheer knit with a bit of ribbon. The dress was originally suspected to fetch about $16,000.
It should be noted here that in the same auction, a custom-made Louis Vuitton vanity case belonging to the Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson, commanded a mere $77,000.
