Flare Is There: Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

We’re at the World’s Sexiest Show in NYC

Combine 100lbs of gold glitter, 40 cans of hairspray, 90 lipgloss applications and 30 of the hottest bombshells in the world, and what to do you get? The 2010 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, of course!  The world has descended on the Lexington Amory in NYC where the VS peeps have the place on lockdown  — roads closed, official accreditation only and security to the max. Makes sense when you’re producing the world’s sexiest show with over a billion people tuning in and a $2 million Fantasy Bra on display but it is quite a sight to be seen. I was practically blinded by the sparkly catwalk, crystal chandeliers and how shiny and gorgeous the girls are.

Speaking of which, I met with a bevy of VS beauties, supermodels and angels early this morning, including Alessandra Ambrosio, Karolina Kurkova, October cover girl Chanel Iman and Canada’s own Jessica Stam. The girls chatted about how they’re prepping for the show (“lots of sleep, exercise and veggies”), what they’re wearing (6-inch heels by Giuseppe Zanotti, lots of feathers and of course, the wings), and what they’re most looking forward to tomorrow night: Katy Perry and Akon performing.

Yes, they’re all taller, sexier and more beautiful in person but so sweet and humbled by it all. Selita Ebanks (who, btw is an amazing dancer at 8 AM in her glittery Louboutins) spoke about how she grew up “in the projects” begging her mom to let her watch the show on TV and dreaming about being one of these girls. When you hear that, somehow the big event transcends a mere marketing event or fashion show and becomes something much, much cooler.

The official runway show doesn’t happen till tomorrow night but we’ll be taking you front row, behind-the-scenes and backstage before it’s broadcast to the world on November 30th. And don’t forget to follow our Tweets with the official hashtag #VSFashionShow!
