For this issue’s celebration of Canadian designers, our cover model was a natural choice: Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha. As her mother and her husband, James Conran, cheered her on, Coco cycled through an eclectic mix of Canadian designs at
FLARE’s photo shoot, including the boundary-pushing couture shapes of Thomas Tait, the accessible wearability of Joe Fresh, and the androgyny of a linen suit by Todd Lynn, one of Coco’s favourite designers.
Just days before, she’d hosted The ShOws—where both Lynn and Tait presented—and wore Lynn’s jacket and hyper-skinny pants to the world premiere of her documentary Letters To Haiti.
The film, directed by Conran, is an account of her mission to raise awareness about children orphaned by the Haiti earthquake. Combine this kind of compassion with the strength of her style and there’s no denying it: We’re crazy for Coco.
