Look We Love From The Emmys: Wavy Low-Slung Bun

With the hilarious opening skit by Jimmy Fallon’s own star-studded glee club, Mad Men’s big win for the third year in a row, and of course the wise and not-so-wise sartorial choices on the red carpet, last night’s Emmys left much to talk about. In FLARE’s beauty department, we’re buzzing about our top hair highlight: the wavy low-slung bun spotted on many starlets at the show.

With hair loosely gathered at the nape of the neck and soft tendrils slipping out, the style is at once both poised and effortless. When paired with a gorgeous floor-skimming gown, this chic updo is a perfect way to showcase bare shoulders, like Eva Longoria Parker did with her black rosette-covered Robert Rodriguez dress. The simple style also provides a perfect playground for hair accessories, as proven by Emily Blunt and Keri Russell last night. Russell’s hair had a bit of a beachy vibe, with flowy waves and a white flower, whereas Blunt opted for a more elegant version via a deep side-part and polished curls adorned with a sparkly pin.

Love this versatile look as much as we do? Give it a try by gathering wavy hair at the nape of your neck and tying into a loose knot (feel free to pull it slightly to one side for a look like Russell’s). Use pins and hairspray to hold the bun in place and top it off with a cute accessory. Finish the look by gently pulling out a few wavy wisps to really master the laissez-faire vibe.
